The Central Bank of Egypt(CBE) sold treasury bills worth about EGP 54.38 billion, for 91 and 273 days, at an interest rate of 30%. Treasury bills are defined as a government debt instrument issued for a period ranging from three months to a year; therefore, they are considered short-term securities. Institutions submitted 456 offers for 91 days worth about EGP 79.13 billion, requesting an interest rate of 30.32%, and 67 offers for 273 days worth about EGP 26.91 billion, requesting an interest rate of about 29.82%. The Ministry of Finance accepted about 410 offers for 91 days worth about EGP 52.35 billion, with a weighted average return of 30%, and 9 offers for 273 days worth EGP 2.02 billion, with an interest rate of about 28%.
