A.P. Moller-Maersk reported revenue of $15.8 billion, underlying earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of $4.8 billion and underlying earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of $3.3 billion for the third quarter of 2024.
In addition, Maersk now expects full-year 2024 underlying EBITDA of $11-11.5 billion, EBIT of $5.2-5.7 billion and free cash flow of at least $3 billion.
The Danish shipping company said in its statement: “The global container market volume growth forecast for the full year 2024 has been revised to around 6%.” The company indicated that it will publish its full financial results for the third quarter on October 31.
Maersk also intends to increase the surcharges for the next peak season for shipments from various Asian ports to Saudi Arabia.
The updated surcharge levels will be effective from November 1 for all ports of origin, except Vietnam, where the surcharge for the next peak season will be launched on November 2, and Taiwan, where the surcharge will come into effect on November 17. Shipments to be applied include those originating from Brunei/China/Hong Kong/Indonesia/Japan/Cambodia/Korea/South/Laos/Myanmar (Burma)/Malaysia/Philippines/Singapore/Thailand/Timor-Leste/Vietnam/Taiwan, with a freight surcharge of $550 per container.
